Do you find yourself staring at the abundant foliage as you whizz through the countryside on a train? I catch myself staring at the resilience of nature in all the unexpected places. The plants that are pioneers breaking the ground for sensitive, rare species and creating a home for insects and small animals. This scene is alongside my nearest station Stansted Mountfitchet, behind the railings are rampant plant life.

Network Rail are stewards for 52,000 hectares of land. They take this role seriously tracking common lizards, grass snakes, deer and water vole who make their homes close to the railway in East Anglia.

This piece is an intense study of the view of nature captured through the harsh metal railings on a local station platform. Varying mark making between the complexity of nature's entanglements and the geometric lines of manmade barriers.
