About the artist

Shoccara Marcus

Shoccara Marcus is a dancer first and then a photographer. Her journey with dance began at a young age in local dance schools then to Tri-Cities Visual & Performing Arts High School in East-Point, GA and later cultivated with photography at Howard University in Washington, DC. She now resides in Atlanta, GA where she has obtained her Master of Fine Arts degree for photography from Savannah College of Art and Design (Atlanta). Her work has been seen nationally and internationally including China Jinan International Photography Biennial, Exposisition des étudiants in France, MOCA GA, Gallery 72, Lucinda Bunnen Selects at Atlanta Photo Group (APG), Savannah College of Art & Design, and recently in Inspired Georgia, a book featuring some Georgia’s best poets and photographers. Shoccara’s fine art photography focuses on the investigation of life experiences that surrounds her.
