Tangible Absence Aesthetic Primitive 1 reflects my experience inside the hand-carved cave interiors of Cappadocia. The soft curves, rounded corners, and chisel-marked surfaces revealed a way of shaping space that feels entirely different from the sharp, geometric architecture we move through today. Inside these ancient rooms, space is formed through the body — through arcs of the arm, carved gestures, and an intimate relationship with material. The painting explores this contrast: the quiet, organic logic of an embodied, ancient architecture set against the rigid linearity of modern interiors. By working with gradients, curved forms, and shifting light, the piece reflects how those carved spaces carried a sense of containment, warmth, and human presence that differs profoundly from the built environments we typically inhabit.
