"I paint photorealism with watercolors. My recent subjects include cityscapes, and I am especially drawn to the juxtaposition of old(er) structures in modern times. These iconic buildings tell stories of people and days past, and if they are lost, their voices will likewise go silent. Erie has many graceful old edifices, and my hope is to preserve this legacy through my art. I lived and worked in China for several years, and was likewise drawn to portraying traditional village life, much of which will be gone within a generation. In addition to man-made objects, I also enjoy painting animal life, particularly birds and fish." -Daniel Austin
