Golden Gate Bridge oil painting, viewed from the Presidio trail.
Painted from the Presidio trail with both towers rising against a turquoise sky and the Marin headlands rolling out beyond. A hillside path winds down toward the water in the foreground. It's one of the most beautiful views in San Francisco and one I keep coming back to.
Painted in oil on copper panel. Copper was used by the Old Masters for its luminosity — colors have a depth and vibrancy on copper that you don't get on canvas. The turquoise sky and International Orange of the bridge both really come alive on this surface.
This is part of an ongoing series of Golden Gate paintings, each one from a different location around the bay.
