This mesmerizing square landscape evokes the ancient, universal concept of the River of Life and Death, where the fluid, textural backdrop creates a deep, dreamlike atmosphere. The piece is a beautiful and profound meditation on passage, framed by the familiar foliage of memory.
The focus rests on the little red boat—a powerful symbol drawn from childhood—carrying a figure on her final, graceful journey. The title's question is answered by the presence of the Little Yellow Soul Bird, who appears to guide the crossing. The poignant realization embedded in the work is that the beloved passenger is already in the vessel, ready for the gentle, inevitable passage.
This image transforms personal loss into a mythic narrative, suggesting that the spirit is often ready for its next great destination before the final call is even heard. The hand-applied cold wax medium grounds the fluid reflections of the river, making this moment of transition feel utterly real and enduring.
