About the artist

Maud Durland

Maud Durland, a signature member of NWWS, is an award-winning Portland, Oregon watercolorist. She is known for her calming renderings of landscapes and waterscapes. Light and shadow are essential components in her paintings. Art has always been a part of Maud’s life. Born and raised in Sweden she learned to paint at an early age. After college she continued to pursue her love of art by enrolling in Famous Artists School. Maud has continued to advance her painting skills over the years by attending workshops from well-known artists.
Maud’s watercolors are found in private, public and corporate collections in the U.S. and Europe. One of Europe’s leading fine art publishers has acquired licensing rights to several of her paintings.
Maud's peaceful renderings of water were selected by a large hospital in the Portland Oregon area. Fifteen large canvas reproductions were purchased and installed.
Maud illustrated a children's picture book in 2006. Several of her floral paintings were selected for "The Watercolour Flower Artist's Bible", and a few of her landscape paintings are featured in the "Best of Worldwide Landscape Artists". Her art has been shown and sold at juried International and National exhibits.
