I stood there in the watery part of the shoreline, where your toes sink into the wet sandy grit.
I was staring at the bottom of this old tree, a tree I visit on every trip to this beach.
This tree friend that has been beaten upon by blazing sun, freezing winds and weathered by waves.
Waves, which are not always so gently lapping the shore.
I love this tree.
She is inspiration in her beauty, her texture, her colors and her strength.
She stands surrounded by gifts delivered to her by the waves…
little pieces of the past that are smoothed out by the journey to land here,
maybe only for a little while.
All around her life moves on, or it doesn’t…
either way, she stands still to greet them.
I appreciate this moment.
Feeling lucky.
Not everyone gets to see this tree…
or finish their journey.
I tried to soak in the stillness,
in a world rushing by.
