Old White Barn, Bath, Ohio, watercolor on 140lb paper.
Bath Township is a quietly beautiful rural enclave nestled in Summit County in northeastern Ohio, characterized by rolling, glacier-sculpted terrain blanketed in dense hardwood forests, open meadows, and winding country roads that feel worlds away from the urban sprawl of nearby Akron. The township is home to the expansive Cuyahoga Valley National Park along its eastern edge, where the Cuyahoga River cuts through dramatic sandstone gorges, misty wetlands, and forested ridgelines teeming with white-tailed deer, great blue herons, and red-tailed hawks. Scattered across the landscape are historic farmsteads, old stone walls, and pastoral horse properties that speak to the area's deep agricultural roots, while modest creeks and tributaries meander quietly through wooded hollows. The feel is distinctly old Ohio — unhurried and unpretentious — with the kind of canopied back roads and seasonal beauty that draws hikers, cyclists, and nature lovers year-round, from the blaze of autumn foliage in October to the soft green awakening of spring wildflowers carpeting the forest floor.
