Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada, watercolor on 300lb paper. Lake Louise is a breathtaking glacial lake nestled in the Canadian Rockies within Banff National Park, Alberta, renowned for its striking turquoise-blue waters, which get their distinctive color from fine glacial rock flour suspended in the water that refracts sunlight. Towering above the lake is the Victoria Glacier, whose meltwater feeds the lake and contributes to its vivid hue, while the surrounding peaks — including Mount Fairview and Mount Victoria — create a dramatic, postcard-perfect backdrop. On the lakeshore sits the iconic Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, a grand historic hotel that has welcomed visitors since the late 19th century. In summer, the area draws hikers, canoeists, and photographers from around the world, while winter transforms it into a magical landscape of snow and ice, popular for skating and ice climbing. Often called the "Jewel of the Rockies," Lake Louise is consistently ranked among the most beautiful natural destinations on Earth.
