6'x30' mural of the 'Turtle Tower", Thap Rua located on an island in the middle of Hoan Kiem Lake built in 1886 in memory of legendary General Le Loi who defeated a force of 100,000 Chinese warriors invading Vietnam in the 14th century assisted in legend by "Kim Qui", a golden tortoise that gifted the magical sword used by Le Loi to rally the Vietnamese to victory. Large 6' turtles have long been seen in the lake near the island on which the ancient temple stands. This work was commissioned by MEP Green Designs, for their Texas corporate office in Webster, Texas near NASA, an engineering firm known for designing and building hotels across the world founded by Dungvu and family, who immigrated to the US from Hanoi, Vietnam in the early 80s.
