ink and acrylic paint on canvas and wood

48 x 48 x 3 in

$14,990

"Multiple Marilyns" is an opticokinetic artwork that features two distinct sets of images, which are best viewed at 45-degree angles to the canvas. The artwork also has a dynamically transforming intermediate phase. The paintings depict iconic images of Marilyn Monroe in different visual styles.

The first panel shows a predominantly monochromatic portrait of Marilyn Monroe rendered in grayscale tones with detailed shading that highlights her facial features (blue eyes, pink lips )and classic hairstyle.

The second panel displays a colorful 3x3 grid of Marilyn Monroe's face, each square featuring bold and contrasting Pop Art colors. These 9 portraits of Marilyn use bright and saturated hues to evoke a lively and striking visual impact.

This artwork explores the interplay of color, motion, and repetition, celebrating Marilyn Monroe as an enduring cultural icon through the lens of kinetic and pop art styles.
