LIGHTED TRANSLUCENT HEART SCULPTURE AND PAINTED DIGITAL CHEST XRAY.
This artwork features a vibrant and surreal depiction of a chest radiograph with a color scheme dominated by blue, green, and black hues. The blue sections highlight the chest and ribcage area, while the green surrounds the sides and lower torso, creating a striking contrast. The central figure in black represents an empty, stylized heart or void in the chest. In front of this background image, a glowing red sculpture of an anatomical heart is positioned, radiating intense light that contrasts with the cooler color tones behind it. This combination of the dark void and the illuminated heart creates a powerful visual tension symbolizing life, energy, and contrast between emptiness and vitality.
This artwork has dual meanings; the first is compassion. The second is a literal interpretation based on my experience as a neurosurgeon. I had many brain-dead patients who became organ donors, literally providing their hearts to others as a gift of life.
