This piece was inspired by a series of palm tree coastal paintings that I created and are exhibited and sold in the Coronado Historical Association Museum Store. This piece is my interpretation of the movement of the trees and busy ocean waves that coastal winds can bring.

About the artist

Michelle Irvine

Michelle Irvine is a California-based fine artist and jewelry designer working in acrylic on canvas and wood, as well as handcrafted jewelry incorporating glass, semi-precious beads, and vintage coins sourced from around the world. Her work includes still life, landscapes, and seasonal Christmas pieces, rendered in a range of styles from impressionistic and rustic to whimsical.

Michelle began sketching at the age of five alongside her father, also an artist, fostering a lifelong passion for creative expression. She earned a degree in Fine Art from Green Mountain College in Vermont, grounding her natural creativity in formal training. After moving to California in 1987, Michelle painted still life florals that were displayed and sold in her family’s restaurant, Chez Loma in Coronado.

For over 15 years, Michelle has exhibited her work locally at Coronado’s Artisans Alley and has been a featured artist at the Bernardo Winery Art Fair twice yearly for the past twelve years. Her paintings and jewelry are currently on display at the Coronado Museum Store. In addition to her exhibited work, Michelle creates commissioned paintings and custom, one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces.
