About the artist

Stan Bennett

1926-2011

Stan Bennett primarily made kinetic wire sculptures. After serving in World War II, he went to San Jose State University. In 1968, he started making "Magic Marble Machines." Bennett was an early founder of the Kinetic Sculpture Race. In 1975, he wrote a book on the Kinetic Sculpture Race titled "Crazy contraptions: A Light-Hearted Look at Ferndale's Kinetic Sculpture Race."
