About the artist

John Cederquist

b. 1946

John Cederquist was born in Altadena, California. He graduated from Long Beach State College with a Bachelors of Art in 1969 and his masters in 1971. He has been teaching at Saddleback College since 1976.

Cederquist is best known for his wood works with optical illusions, which are usually pieces of furniture. He often uses cartoon-esque drawings and skewed perspectives
