About the artist

April Watkins

For over five decades, April Watkins has been a well known African-American painter, artist, teacher, former gallery owner (Art of Living, Berkeley, CA), muralist, sacred space preservationist, altar builder, costume designer, and pianist. She has also been a devoted single mother of two talented & energetic daughters, Heather and Jasmine, who themselves are well known dancers, singers, and artists (Loco Bloco,S.F.).
Currently, April teaches seniors art,crafts, and shield making. She also
stages beautiful homes and spaces.
