This painting is part of “My Childhood Series” reflecting some of my best memories while growing up in Mexico like my dad helping me tie a string to a flying “Mayate verde” or Figeater beetle and making my own kite or drone.

Julio "Juls" Mendoza

Julio Mendoza (Juls) is a Denver-based multi-disciplinary artist who celebrates his heritage through art. His art style "Surrealismo Cultural" or "Cultural Surrealism" focuses on Cultural Identity, Community and Social Justice. For Juls, the greatest gift is to get inspired by one’s own traditions, food, people and colors and it’s a blessing to be able to put all these into an art piece and inspire others.
