Amey paints with a great sense of design and color. The original source image is often abstracted into a grid of stacked and nested boxes, sometimes incorporating little bits of writing. When she draws from her imagination, the distinction between drawing and writing blurs further. The space gets filled with little drawings, labels for what she’s drawn, lists of her friends, and little notes to herself. Her work is full of rainbows and angels and other symbols of love and joy.
