Kim is a master storyteller who expresses herself through an invented world of characters she calls the Flowertons. With their petals, antennae, tattoos and scars, they populate her drawings, paintings and puppet shows with a compelling blend of innocence and experience. Kim easily comes up with fantastic names and stories for her Flowerton beings and has a deep imaginative connection to her work. She says, “When I’m with myself, I’m just myself. When I’m with my puppets my voice comes out into their mouths and they speak with my voice.”
