Jon draws his friends and his favorite foods, whimsically transformed. A friend might be portrayed as an octopus, and a glass of milk might be labeled “Pizza Milk.” The technique of detournement, or making art by augmenting existing printed material, has proven especially fertile ground for Jon. His addition of witty labels and seemingly off-hand drawings to a photograph of mundane food items makes for a delightful, surreal statement.
