A few years ago I was delivering a painting to a local art gallery (Bay School in Mathews) and as I was leaving to return to my car, I saw this fellow sitting in the sun next door. I quickly snapped his photo and moved on. This year, as I move back into figurative work, this image grabbed my attention I decided I was ready to paint him.
