This encaustic painting presents a quiet winter landscape where a line of evergreen trees stretches across the horizon beneath a sky illuminated with aurora-like color. The stillness of the scene contrasts with the movement above, capturing a moment where calm observation and dynamic energy coexist—an experience that often sparks inspiration.
The evergreen trees, resilient and constant through the winter season, represent stability and endurance, while the shifting colors of the sky evoke wonder and possibility. Together, they reflect the balance between grounding and imagination that fuels creative thought. Encounters with nature like this—where something familiar meets something extraordinary—can awaken a sense of curiosity and emotional connection.
Working in encaustic allows for layered translucency, mirroring how inspiration builds gradually. Each fused layer preserves a history of marks and decisions, suggesting the way ideas evolve from both internal reflection and external influence.
This piece explores how inspiration can emerge in quiet moments, when attention is drawn to subtle beauty or unexpected phenomena. The landscape becomes a space of connection—between stillness and movement, earth and sky—encouraging a renewed sense of energy and a desire to create.
