I just completed, sold, and delivered this large commissioned painting to the buyer.
The buyer has a very creative, imaginative mind. He described to me how he wanted a portrait of his beloved Labrador retriever, Belle. Using Southwest imagery and folklore, he came up with a fantasy image of Belle dancing in the desert, among the rocks, plants, and cacti, like a Kokopelli creature. (Kokopelli creatures are figures found in petroglyphs and pictographs throughout the Southwest. They are part of the Native folklore and have been popularized in Southwestern art and culture.)
This painting took my imaginative realism to another, higher level than I have done before. I am honored to have been commissioned to paint the piece and to bring to life what the buyer envisioned and also felt in his heart for his dog.
