I explore themes of identity, mapping of the self, boundaries, preservation, and reconstruction. Sourcing my imagery from personal photographs, architecture through the ages, gardens, textile patterns, and collected wallpapers, I create layered mixed media works that elicit a sense of time and place through their tactility. Personal memories of growing up in the North of France in a family of builders, experiences of loss and immigration are used as references but also as bodiless material. I paint with oil paint, acrylic, watercolor but also with media that are not strictly considered art materials, such as grout, plaster, and latex paint, challenging myself to conjure the concept of "home" as well as my understanding of space and abstraction. The domestic interior and its adjacent surroundings become metaphorical environments that serve as navigation tools to explore the layers of selfhood and memory.
