This painting is #28 in my series of Paint Savers - Abstracts. While painting other artwork, I take the extra paint on my brush and make quick abstract marks on a separate sheet of paper before I rinse it. Paint makes up a large portion of the plastics that are in oceans and landfills. With the excess paint that I refuse to waste, I expel my frustration by creating abstract pieces that leave no indication of my race, gender, or sexuality. I layer it on my separate "beating canvas", created simultaneously alongside my more "serious, traditional art." The artwork is for my target audience, but the beating piece is every slither of frustration, doubt, and anger I feel between brush strokes from my main work.
