What does it say about a creature that as threatening storm clouds gather on the horizon, its innate wisdom tells it to stand and face the storm or even move toward it, rather than cowering or running away? The North American bison displays this behavioral trait, which usually results in the storm passing over the herd and reducing their exposure to danger. For many Native Americans, the white bison not only embodies the courage to stand and face hardship directly; its rare color also marks it as a symbol of peace. “Growing up in Oklahoma, I heard many Native American stories and the lessons they teach. Some continue to define who I am today,” Kevin says.
"I first heard the legend of the white bison as a sacred symbol of peace, from the Native Americans I grew up around in Oklahoma. I learned two important lessons. First, if you unite right thoughts with right deeds, you will always have what you need. And secondly, for every decision you make, consider what your ancestors would think seven generations ago and seven generations from now. These lessons have informed my life well." Kevin Box
