Tsuru
Rising from a rugged stone, a flock of classic origami cranes takes flight, each one folded, in the traditional way, from a single uncut square of paper.
Tsuru, the Japanese word for crane, is among the oldest of all origami forms. Images of this iconic design appear as far back as Japan's Edo period (1603–1868), and in the centuries since, the crane has become a symbol of peace recognized around the world. For many, folding one remains a quiet, inspirational act.
"To me, the cranes in this sculpture represent many generations helping one another find joy and peace," Box says. "They are lifting each other up and, in every direction, spreading peace into the world."
