Charles Goodnight (1836-1929) and Oliver Loving (1812-1867) are depicted on Horseback at Castle Gap as they might have appeared on one of the first cattle drives of Texas longhorns through this area to Horsehead Crossing on the Pecos river along the famous trail that would bear their names.
