Janie Varisco is a Lafayette, Louisiana-bases abstract artist and founder of J. Varisco Art, known for bold contemporary acrylic paintings that blend emotional depth, layered metallics, crisp composition and expressive movement. A self-taught artist who began painting in 2019, Janie has created more than 553 original works and sold over 200 paintings to collectors locally and throughout the United States. Her artistic journey began during a recovery from an ankle injury, when discovering abstract painting opened the door to a lifelong dream of becoming an artist. Inspired by Louisiana sunsets, emotion, spirituality, healing and music, Janie’s work has evolved from fluid acrylic pouring into distinctive mixed-tool abstracts and bold geometric compositions created with acrylics, metallic pigments, texture mediums and unconventional tools. Janie approaches her artwork the way she approaches life – with fearless curiosity, a dash of chaos and a deep belief that every painting should have a heartbeat. Her collections often describe her work as bold, powerful and one of a kind, discovering something new each time they experience it. Her artwork has been exhibited locally, featured on the front page of the Daily Advertiser and displayed at Lafayette’s Artmosphere. Janie maintains J. Varisco Art Gallery at Farrel Square in Lafayette and continues creating work designed to inspire joy, healing, empowerment and meaningful connection.
