Malia Pettit is a figurative painter whose work spans portraiture and still life, grounded in a classical tradition and informed by sustained study of historical painting. She holds two Bachelor of Arts degrees: one in Art History from UCLA and another in Fine Art (Painting) from Bucks New University in the United Kingdom.

Pettit’s practice reflects a deep engagement with materiality, composition, and the language of representation, often exploring themes of presence, memory, and cultural inheritance. Her work is held in private and corporate collections internationally, and she has completed a range of commissions from intimate, site-specific works to larger-scale projects for commercial and cultural clients, including Napa Valley wineries, private aviation, and independent record labels.

Based in Lafayette, Louisiana, Pettit’s work is shaped by her time in London and continued engagement with European painting traditions. Her practice continues to investigate the relationship
