About the artist

Rachel Perry

I am a painter/wife/mother/teacher from Lafayette, LA. While not a Cajun by heritage, I am deeply rooted in Acadiana and draw much inspiration from its people, land, and culture. My formal art training is minimal; art is not my career, but drawing and painting have been continuous parts of my life. They provide a necessary creative outlet, a way to channel my inner musings into something tangible.

My art wavers between real and surreal, with subject matter that includes landscapes, people, architecture, silhouettes, and the juxtaposition of familiar images. I have shown work at several local galleries and have completed various commission pieces, ranging from human portraits to dog portraits to melting violins. I am eager for more of my art to venture from the walls of my own home out into the world.
