About the artist

Heidi Matherne

I am a self-taught, but always learning artist from Louisiana. I work in mixed media using paper collage and acrylic paint. My subjects range from the inspiring scenery and memorabilia from my home state to historical figures. When I’m not in the studio, I’m rummaging estate sales and antique stores in search for unique ephemera to use in my artwork.

As a former history teacher, I love to incorporate historical elements in my art. I’m always looking for a way to tell a story in a visually creative way.
