"Go in Peace Father" is an exquisitely detailed and colorful scene crafted predominantly using colored pencil. The artwork captures a poignant moment between two individuals and a horse. On the left, a man is depicted in traditional Native American attire. He sits proudly on a dark brown horse, adorned in a feathered headdress and holding a shield and a decorated spear, suggesting a readiness for an important event or journey.
Beside the horse stands a woman, dressed in an intricately designed fringed garment featuring blue geometric patterns. Her interaction with the man evokes a sense of intimacy and significance, as though they are sharing a meaningful exchange before a departure.
The background adds to the drama of the scene, with an expansive sky painted in dynamic hues of purple, pink, and orange, likely indicating dawn or dusk. This vibrant sky, combined with the golden fields that stretch into the horizon, creates a rich, atmospheric setting that pulls the viewer into the moment.
This artwork is not just a visual feast with its vivid colors but also holds deep personal significance, resonating with the artist's connection to the Fox Tribe of Wisconsin. The choice of bright colors and intricate detailing transforms the scene into both a labor of love and a testament to cultural heritage. The meticulous process involved in creating such detailed work with colored pencils is tedious but yields stunningly beautiful effects, showcasing the dedication and skill poured into every element of the piece.
