"Come On Down" is a captivating piece that presents a serene coastal scene, meticulously rendered with colored pencils on blue colored paper. Measuring 9 x 12 inches, this artwork beautifully captures the tranquility of a wooden boardwalk leading towards a calm, expansive ocean. The boardwalk is flanked by lush green grass, with a rustic fence visible in the background, adding a touch of charm and authenticity to the scene.
The depiction of ocean waves is a standout feature, showcasing subtle detailing in various shades of blue that evoke a sense of depth and movement. The tranquil ocean is matched by a clear sky above, further enhancing the peaceful and inviting atmosphere of the piece. The overall composition draws viewers in, as if inviting them to step down the boardwalk and immerse themselves in the serene coastal landscape.
What adds a unique touch to this artwork is its inspirational backstory. The scene is based on a photograph provided by the artist's cousin, Peter Brooks Rathsack, capturing the essence of early spring as the long grass bears signs of receding snow, and gusty winds stir up the lake's surface. The loud, roaring waves break vigorously upon the shore, creating a dynamic contrast to the inviting stillness of the boardwalk and surroundings. This piece is part of the "Peter Brooks Collection," adding a personal and intimate dimension to its creation.
"Come On Down" not only showcases a beautiful coastal scene but also conveys a compelling narrative of nature's transition and the subtleties of seasonal change, making it a delightful addition to any art collection.
