"Nymphaea III" is an original ink drawing on watercolor paper by Astrid Steingrueber, 50 x 70 cm (2026), and part of an ongoing series on water lilies. A single water lily blossom rises at the center of the composition, surrounded by floating lily pads and shimmering reflections, all rendered in fluid, gestural lines of blue-black ink. Large areas of open paper become water and light, while dense strokes and dry-brush textures capture the movement of the surface. Rooted in the calligraphic spirit of East Asian brushwork and a contemporary European approach to abstraction, the work reflects on stillness, transience and the quiet life of a pond. A unique original for collectors of minimalist ink art and contemporary botanical drawings.
