Sarah Ashe

Art making has been an important means of expression for Sarah Ashe since childhood. The color, rhythm, and texture of brush strokes and scratchings, repeating shapes, three dimensional vessels and whimsical creations… are the vocabulary that anchors her art.

Much of Ashe's work has centered on social concerns: Hurricanes Katrina and Irene, death and dying, and the Refugee Crisis. The emotional engagement felt considering these issues stirs Ashe to make visual what may be unspoken or forgotten.
