Cyrus Carlson is an abstract artist whose works emphasize movement and contrasting quiet. Bright colors and flowing shapes capture moments of attention in a deeply distracted world.

Abstract art moves away from realistic images and instead uses form, color, and line to explore emotion, thought, and atmosphere. Rather than representing the world as it appears, it often reflects how we experience it — especially in times of change. Many artists turned to abstraction in the modern era as a way to respond to the increasing complexity and disconnection of industrial society, creating work that mirrors the inner landscape as much as the outer one.

Cyrus, a lifelong Minnesotan and a junior at the St. Paul Conservatory for Performing Artists, brings a fresh and youthful voice to this artistic tradition. His work invites viewers to slow down and use abstract art as a way to reconnect in a world of constant motion.
