"Ascari – Ghost in Red"
Original painting by Allan Buch
200 x 120 cm Acrylic on canvas
This commanding, large-scale painting pays homage to Alberto Ascari, one of Formula 1’s earliest legends - a man whose precision, focus, and calm defiance behind the wheel helped define an era.
To honour the gravity of Ascari’s legacy, Allan Buch has split the canvas not just visually, but emotionally.
The upper half, rendered in sepia tones, evokes the feel of an aged photograph - deliberately weathered by time, as if pulled from the pages of a long-forgotten motorsport archive. It captures not only the man, but the myth - frozen in the golden haze of memory.
In contrast, the lower half bursts into life with the unmistakable Ferrari red - fluid, bold, and visceral.
Here, Buch’s signature elements return: running paint drips, expressive texture, and raw motion - pulling Ascari back into the now, reminding us that true legends never fade.
Every brushstroke is deliberate. Every drip is a heartbeat of history bleeding into the present.
And in between the sepia and the scarlet lies a career that redefined dominance
Ascari won every race he entered in the 1952 season, becoming the dominant force in Formula One and establishing a nine-race winning streak that stood as a record for nearly 60 years.
This is more than a painting.
It’s a bridge between eras, a conversation between nostalgia and adrenaline - crafted for the collector who understands that art, like racing, is ultimately about timing, balance, and soul.
