Duty Among Blaze, 2025

Acrylic on canvas

18 x 24 in

Teacher: Hongwei Liu
School: Forest Ridge School of the Sacred Heart, Bellevue, WA, US

Excerpt from artist’s Impact Statement: "During and after working on this painting, Braidwood’s story made me reflect deeply on what “leadership” and “duty” truly mean—not just in history, but in my own life. As I painted his determined expression and the intense fire scene around him, I kept thinking about how he stayed calm and focused under pressure. That made me ask myself: how do I respond when things get difficult."
