Excerpt from artist’s Impact Statement: "To represent the hardships Mary Anning went through, I replicated the shape of the specific cliffs where she worked to show how much prejudice she had to climb over...One of the things I really wanted to explore in this project is texturing and etching. When I was making the cliffs on the sides of the necklace, I spent a lot of time trying to make a perfect rock texture in order to convey the image of a steep cliff."
