John Wimberley

American

b. 1945

John Wimberley is a renowned American photographer known for his evocative black-and-white images and his mastery in the darkroom. Born in 1945, his work often explores themes of spirituality and the natural world. Wimberley’s meticulous craftsmanship and unique vision have earned him widespread acclaim. Technically he may be one of the best photographers ever. Ansel Adams was speechless when he first saw his photographs and for days could not stop talking about their richness and beauty. In 1983 Wimberley had the first of two, two man exhibitions with Ansel Adams - the only photographer so honored. He has been honored with more than 50 exhibitions and has been published around the world and his work is represented in more than 400 public and private collections, including many major museums.
