Blooming in Blue

Oil on canvas

36 x 24 x 2 in

This painting presents a lush bouquet arranged in a clear glass vase, set against a cool, textured blue background. Thick, expressive brushstrokes give the flowers a sculptural presence. The contrast between the energetic floral forms and the calm, atmospheric blue backdrop creates a dynamic tension.

The surface is richly worked, with visible palette-knife marks and layered paint adding depth and movement. The glass vase is loosely rendered yet luminous, its transparency suggested through streaks of white and gray that anchor the composition to the darker tabletop below.

Overall, the piece feels both spontaneous and intentional — a celebration of color and texture, where the blooms seem to shimmer and pulse against the serene field of blue.
