The artwork, titled "ISl Study 1," is a captivating portrayal rendered in a 5x7 relief print medium. This piece features black ink lines on a pristine white background, creating a visually striking contrast that draws the viewer's attention. The central element is a horizontally oriented shape that evokes the rugged silhouette of a cliff or rock formation, meticulously drawn with thick, textured lines. This main form anchors the composition, offering a focal point for contemplation.

Above and below this central shape, horizontal lines of varying lengths and thicknesses ripple across the surface, suggesting movement—perhaps the gentle undulations of water or the windswept landscapes of distant shores. The simplicity of the strokes imbues the artwork with a minimalistic yet powerful aesthetic, inviting the viewer to pause and reflect on the interplay between form and emptiness.

Inspired by the artist's travels, "ISl Study 1" captures the essence of small islands off the coast of Iceland. The initial sketches made during these travels serve as the foundation for this evocative piece, making it not just a visual representation but also a remembrance of serene, faraway places. This artwork invites viewers into a tranquil space, where the simplicity of line and the depth of texture combine to create a scene both familiar and dreamlike. The piece is float-mounted in a natural wood frame using archival materials and TruView Conservation Clear glass, adding an elegant finish that enhances its timeless quality.
