Fractured Front

Acrylic & drawing media on archival paper, mounted and framed

80 x 80 x 0.4 cm

This is an abstract painting inspired by the weather and the drama of the sky.

The composition is anchored by two dark, gestural masses—one in the lower left and a smaller, more concentrated cluster in the upper right. These areas are rich in texture, with charcoal and colored pencil marks creating a scribbled, frenetic energy that suggests wind-blown debris or heavy rain clouds.

A soft, ethereal white veil of acrylic paint drifts through the center, separating these darker regions and providing a moment of calm. On the right, vertical "drips" mimic a heavy downpour, grounding the piece in its weather-inspired origin. Hints of warm peach and gold peek through the cool blues and greys, suggesting a hidden light source or a break in the storm.

The delicacy of the pale colours which have the quality of water colours contrasts with the drama of the dark areas. The fine details throughout and the sense of depth pull you in.
