"The depth and beauty within the Everglades has impacted my painting career over several decades. Without any doubt the accessibility to explore the park each day was pretty mind-blowing. I had knowledgeable guides/park staff that helped me understand what a precious ecosystem exists in such a subtle manner. So very powerful for me as a painter of threatened & fragile environments. Every painting I have created since my residency consists of elements from my experience there. My deepest gratitude. "

What’s your favorite memory while in Residency?
"Being in my truck as a massive thunderstorm rolled across the glades early morning. I pulled into Flamingo, parked & was in awe of the beauty & power as the sky became a multi-colored lightning show for a couple of hours. I took dozens of photos. As I was heading back towards the visitors center a couple of photographers waved me to stop and join them as they were slogging towards a low dome of cypress trees. Within the dome appeared the most majestic & beautiful alligator in its domain. We remained silent for at least an hour with deepest respect of the home we were visiting. A memory I will never forget. "
