Falling in Love with AFH is an exhibition that celebrates the fall season and the brightness, joy, and bold ideas that teens at Artists for Humanity (AFH) discover as they grow as artists in the studio. Curated by the Exhibitions Studio’s own teens and curators, the show is a collection of styles, techniques, and colors, inclusive of large abstract pieces to more illustrative paintings.
This exhibition got its start in the summer of 2026, when AFH launched a trial Exhibitions Studio with teens Kayleigh Lyons and Santiago Vergara Mora. Tape measures in hand, the two spent time in the Springhouse gallery, exploring ideas and getting to know the residents who'd soon be living alongside their art and curation. With mentorship from Alison Drasner, Curation & Exhibitions Manager, and Ariel Benda, Exhibitions Intern, they drew elevations, selected artwork, and drafted a proposal to pitch to Springhouse staff.
What resulted is exactly what the title promises: a bold, colorful record of falling in love with AFH, as a teen finding their voice, as a patron discovering new art, and as a community coming together.
Artists for Humanity (AFH) harnesses the power of art, mentorship, and paid professional experiences to inspire teens to build their future. Transcending economic, racial, and social divisions, AFH teens transform communities through creative expression, collaborating on innovative art and design projects commissioned by clients and sharing their voice through public art.
