Santiago or Santi, is a Colombian-born artist living in Boston. His subjects center on portraiture, combining bold imagination and precise detail to capture the exterior forms and interior emotions of his subjects. Drawing inspiration from his Colombian roots and the world around him, Santi explores themes regarding identity, culture, and self-discovery through his art. 

My interest is in portraiture as a means of exploring the richness of identity and emotional complexity. I want to paint portraits that are more than representational, drawing the viewer into the inner world of the individuals I portray. From both my Colombian heritage and my existence in exile, I find inspiration to approach each painting with a new vision, infusing imagination and close observation. Through my artwork, I hope to provoke reflection and emotional connection.
