Boston based artist Massiel Grullón, was raised in a creative home surrounded by her mother’s artwork and Afro-Latin dance studio. An alumni at Boston Arts Academy, Massiel was creating art at an early age. She was heavily involved in art projects and collaborative murals in the Boston art community. She continued to follow her passion all the way through completing her bachelor’s degree in painting & graphic design at Montserrat College of Art in 2014. Massiel is now an independent working artist doing freelance, design/fine arts, and murals. She is also an Alumna Resident and Mentor at Artists For Humanity in South Boston, MA. Massiel works primarily in fine art and design. Creating work that is nostalgic, harmonious, and interactive, Massiel produces paintings of portraits, abstract, graphic design, and murals. Most of her work are retro-inspired designs through many different mediums such as oil, acrylic, interior/exterior paint, and digital. Massiel has a fascination with mid century and space age architecture and interior furniture design that you will see a reflection of that style in her work. Her influences are painters and designers such as John Singer Sargent, Verner Panton, Joe Columbo, Barbara Stauffacher Solomon, Frank Stella, Sol Lewitt, and Bridget Riley.
