Shannon Harumi Valdiviezo is an artist from Boston Massachusetts. Since forever, she has always had a passion for drawing. As years passed that passion grew until she was finally given the opportunity at AFH to express herself in a different light, painting. Since 2024, she has been finding her style in each creation she makes, the happiest and oddest combination of both worlds help make each painting come to life. Shannon hopes that with each painting she makes, it will bring smiles and joy to those who see it. With her childlike nature, it tends to create a mind of its own in all paintings she's made. Shannon’s creations don’t tell a story, but they express inner happiness within herself.
All of my paintings start with the same thought: What am I DOING? I always tend to begin with a canvas, paint, and a hope and prayer. Most of my process is letting myself figure it out along the way as I dab paint or absolutely drench my canvas in paint. It’s definitely a good explanation on why my style is never really consistent. Sometimes it is cartoon-y with the brightest of colors, other times it gets a little more realistic but still mixed with a sense of oddity. With my art, I want to create things that will make me feel a sense of whimsy, because it’s good to be fun and whimsical, especially in art! The people and the world around me inspire me to keep being myself in every painting I make, and I hope every viewer who comes across my creations can feel that happiness I felt while making it.
